Irondrakes

The Irondrakes are among the most feared infantry of the holds, an elite drawn from the ranks of the Ironbreakers and armed with the deadliest handheld weapons the dwarf engineers can devise. Encased head to foot in gleaming gromril plate that shrugs off blows which would fell lesser troops, they carry drakeguns: heavy, rune-etched firearms that belch a searing gout of flame and shot, incinerating the foe and melting through armour that ordinary bullets would merely dent. Advancing in an unhurried, methodical line, they wash the enemy in fire, and few things on the battlefield can endure their sustained fury: rank upon rank of foes are reduced to ash and cinders before they can close. Where the fighting reaches them regardless, their heavy plate and grim resolve let them hold firm, meeting the charge without flinching. Descended from the finest warriors of the deep and sworn to guard the darkest tunnels against the terrors that dwell below, the Irondrakes bring the fire of the forge to the field and burn the enemies of the hold from the world.
