Skeleton Warriors

Skeleton Warriors are the deeper harvest of the Old World's soil: soldiers of vanished armies and forgotten causes, raised with enough craft that their bones remember drill. Unlike the shambling tide of fresher corpses, skeletons keep ranks. They advance in silence to the beat of unheard drums, lock shields when the will that binds them commands it, and reform around their standards no matter how many times they are broken.

Necromancers prize them as the perfect infantry, and the Vampire Counts prize them as the perfect subjects. A living soldier must be fed, paid, rested, and persuaded that the cause is worth his life; a skeleton asks nothing, fears nothing, and deserts only when the magic fails. More than once, Imperial soldiers have crossed spears with the dead of wars their own historians cannot name.
