The Nachmund Crusade

The Nachmund Crusade was born of necessity, for the Nachmund Gauntlet is one of the few stable passages through the Cicatrix Maledictum, the galaxy-splitting Great Rift that severed the Imperium in two. Whoever controls this corridor controls the flow of reinforcement and supply between the sundered halves of humanity's realm, and so it became one of the most bitterly contested regions in all the galaxy.

The Chaos Space Marines hurled themselves at the Gauntlet with fanatical zeal, for to choke this artery would be to strangle the Imperium's ability to reinforce its embattled eastern reaches. Traitor warbands and daemon incursions boiled out of the warp storms, seeking to sever the lifeline. Yet the forces of the Dark Gods were not alone in their ambition, for the awakening Necrons also stirred in the region, pursuing ancient designs of their own amid the chaos.

The Imperium poured crusading armies into the region to hold the passage open at any cost, waging a war without foreseeable end. Every world along the Gauntlet became a fortress, every void-lane a killing ground. The Nachmund Crusade embodies the desperate strategic reality of the Era Indomitus, where the Imperium fights not for conquest but for the mere survival of its severed body, clinging to a single thread of stars against the encircling dark.
