Uriah Jacobus

Uriah Jacobus was not a warrior-saint in shining armour but something rarer and, in its way, more enduring: a missionary who won worlds not with miracles but with patience, cunning, and an obstinate faith that no hardship could wear down. Travelling the isolated systems to the galactic west of Bakka, in the Segmentum Tempestus, he carried the Imperial Creed to peoples who had never heard the Emperor's name, and by the time he had reached fifty standard years he had already brought fifteen worlds into the fold, a staggering achievement in so sparsely settled a region.

Those who knew him remembered a grizzled, weathered man of few pretensions, famed for his hardy endurance and blunt practicality, as stubborn as a mule and possessed of a quiet, unshakeable belief that steadied all around him. His true genius lay in understanding the worlds he sought to convert, and nowhere was this better shown than upon the half-frozen feudal world of Solstice.

The Battle of Solstice[edit]

There Jacobus spent three years living among a people whose civilisation had regressed to a feudal age, learning their ways before gently weaving the doctrines of the Ecclesiarchy into their own disordered faith. When he divined that a Genestealer Cult had coiled itself around the world's ruling power, he did not preach; he made war. Withdrawing to the kingdoms still free of the taint, he forged them into an alliance and returned at the head of an army of crossbowmen and armoured knights. Amid a heaving tide of Genestealers and their Brood Brothers, his cavalry drove to the very heart of the cult, and though the dead lay heaped around it, the Patriarch was slain and the Magus spitted upon a lance.

That victory made Jacobus a legend, a man believed able to call down the Emperor's own aid against any odds. He would guide six more worlds into the light before his long road ended, not in battle, but upon the death world of Gorang, where a lung-rotting virus at last claimed the Protector of the Faith.
