Power Axe

A power axe is a member of the power weapon family, an axe whose head is wreathed in the same disruptive energy field that gives the power sword its terrible cutting power. When active, the shimmering field surrounds the blade and breaks apart the molecular bonds of whatever it strikes, letting the axe hew through armour, flesh, and bone with brutal efficiency. Like the power fist and other such arms, power axes require a compact energy source and careful maintenance, and so are rarer and more prized than crude blades. Many are ornate, bearing engraved heads, purity seals, and honorific inscriptions that mark the deeds of their bearers. In the swirling chaos of close combat, the power axe is both a fearsome killing tool and a proud emblem of a warrior's rank and prowess.
