The Arcane Cataclysm at the Varanspire

The Eightpoints is the crossroads of the Mortal Realms, a shattered domain where eight realmgates meet and the boundaries of reality wear thin. At its heart broods the Varanspire, the black bastion of Archaon the Everchosen. Around this seat of ultimate power raged The Arcane Cataclysm at the Varanspire, as ambitious champions, daemon princes and warlords converged to test their strength against the Three-Eyed King.

Whoever holds the Eightpoints commands the roads into every realm, and so every tyrant of Chaos covets it. The slaves-to-darkness who serve Archaon defended the eightfold gates against rivals who wore the same dark marks, for Chaos devours its own as gladly as its foes. Sorcerous storms tore the sky, gates flickered between realms, and the ground itself became a weapon in the hands of warring magi.

Into this maelstrom came raiders and would-be liberators, even bold columns of the cities-of-sigmar seeking to sever the roads of invasion at their source. All were ground down alike. Archaon suffered no equal and permitted no exit. When the arcane storms finally guttered, the Varanspire still loomed unbroken, its master's dominion reaffirmed upon a foundation of shattered ambition. The Eightpoints teaches one lesson to all who reach for the crown of the Everchosen. It is already worn.
