The Order of Azyr

The Order of Azyr is the God-King's answer to the enemy within, a secretive brotherhood of witch hunters, agents, and inquisitors charged with finding the rot that armies cannot reach. As Sigmar's reconquest of the Mortal Realms planted new cities across a war-torn cosmos, it became grimly clear that Chaos did not always storm the gates; more often it seeped in through frightened hearts and whispered bargains. The Order exists to hunt that corruption to its source and burn it out.

Unlike the shining hosts of the Stormcast Eternals, the Order's servants work in shadow. Its witch hunters travel the frontier cities cloaked as ordinary folk, gathering rumour, tracing cults, and testing the faithful for hidden taint. Behind them stands a web of informants, archivists, and inquisitors who compile dossiers on suspected heretics and coordinate strikes against the covens that fester beneath civilised streets. Authority within the Order rests on proven results and hard-won trust, for a witch hunter who errs may doom the very people he swore to protect.

The Order answers to Sigmar's celestial authority and guards its independence jealously, wary that any institution it leans upon too heavily might itself be compromised. Its agents wield writ and pistol alike, empowered to interrogate nobles, purge shrines, and put whole congregations to the question when the evidence demands it. This grants them a fearsome reach, and a fearsome reputation, in every city where their sigil is known.

Such power is a heavy burden, and the Order knows it. To hunt corruption is to stare into it, and more than one witch hunter has fallen to the very darkness he pursued. Yet the alternative is worse, for a single unnoticed cult can undo in a night what a Stormhost bled for years to win. And so the Order watches, and questions, and when it must, it burns.
