Daemon Prince

A Daemon Prince is at once the ultimate reward and the ultimate damnation of a Champion of Chaos: a mortal raised into the ranks of the immortal daemons for a lifetime of slaughter and devotion. Only those who have served the Ruinous Powers again and again, achieving impossible victories in their patron's name, are ever considered for such apotheosis. When the gift is granted, the champion's flesh tears itself apart and reforms as something vastly greater and utterly inhuman, trading the frailty of mortality for the deathless power of a creature of the Warp.

Not all who reach for princedom grasp it. Should a god judge the aspirant unworthy, the transformation ends instead in wretched death or, worse still, the mindless writhing torment of Chaos Spawndom. Those who succeed rise as towering figures of dread, often winged, wielding hell-forged blades and sorceries beyond mortal ken, and command lesser daemons and mortal followers alike. Yet even a Daemon Prince is no free lord. For all its might and cunning it becomes a daemon like any other, its will bound forever to the whims of the god that made it, an eternal servant clad in the trappings of a king.
