Doom Scythe

The Doom Scythe is a crescent-winged terror that usually heralds the opening of a necron invasion, screaming out of the sky to sow panic before the tomb legions have even begun their advance. Unusually for necron war machines, it operates with a high degree of independence, for its cockpit houses an advanced android intelligence capable of simulating billions of tactical possibilities in a heartbeat, drawing upon vast datastacks of stratagems and strike-plans to outfly and outfight any pilot the younger races can field.

Even before its weapons speak, the Doom Scythe is an instrument of terror. Its repulsor drive, an augmented cousin of the engine that carries a Tomb Blade, is tuned so that its howl resonates with the frequencies of the living brain, and the amplified shriek of its passing can reduce those who hear it to gibbering, catatonic wrecks. Sanity itself frays in the shadow of its wings.

Then come the weapons. The Doom Scythe's death ray looses a narrow beam of annihilating energy that does not stop at a single target but carves onward through rank after rank, spearing infantry and vehicles alike until its fury is finally spent, so that a single sweep can gut an entire battle line. A twin tesla destructor lashes survivors with arcs of lightning that boil blood and melt armour. So terrible is this craft that one alone can dismantle an armoured column, and a full squadron can render the towering spires of a hive city into fulminating slag in less than an hour.
