Chaos Warshrine

A Chaos Warshrine is a portable altar to the Dark Gods, a great slab of blood-crusted stone and leering idols hauled to war upon the back of a hideously mutated beast of burden. Attending it are chosen priests and shrine-keepers who tend the sacred fires and offer up the screaming to whichever powers of Chaos they serve.

The Warshrine's purpose is devotion made manifest. As the faithful march in its shadow, the Dark Gods look upon them with favour, hardening flesh against blades, quickening rusted weapons, and rewarding the worthy with sudden, riotous mutation: a new limb, a lashing tentacle, a hide turned to iron. Those the gods find wanting are twisted into gibbering Chaos Spawn instead, a fate the devout court all the same. In battle the mutated behemoth that bears the shrine is no passenger but a weapon, crushing and goring any foe that draws near, while above it the idols leer and the priests howl their prayers, drawing the eye of the gods down upon the slaughter below.
