Torias Telion

For more than three hundred years Torias Telion has served as a sergeant in the Ultramarines' Tenth Company, and in that time he has become a living institution. Though he has earned a place in the Honour Guard many times over, and could have risen to almost any rank he desired, Telion has chosen again and again to remain among the Scouts, shaping raw aspirants into the warriors the Chapter will one day depend upon.

His skill with a gun is the stuff of legend. Wielding a Stalker-pattern boltgun fitted with a targeting scope and loaded with silenced shells, Telion can place a killing shot far beyond the range at which such a weapon should be effective, picking apart enemy officers and war-machines with impossible precision. Over his long career he has been awarded more than forty battlefield commendations, among them the Iron Skull and the Imperial Laurel, along with a dozen Marksman's Honours, two of them earned in the same campaign during the Relief of Pallia against the T'au.

Yet it is as a teacher that Telion has left his deepest mark. He has served beneath three successive Chapter Masters and personally trained at least four future captains of the Ultramarines, drilling into each the patience, cunning and marksmanship that are his own hallmarks. Many of the Chapter's heroes first learned the true art of war at his side.

Wry, unassuming and endlessly patient, Telion cares nothing for glory or advancement, only for the making of good soldiers and the death of the Emperor's enemies. Even captains he trained long ago still seek his counsel before a difficult campaign, prizing the judgement of a warrior who has witnessed more war than almost any brother alive. Known to some as the Eye of Vengeance, he is living proof that the humblest rank, held long enough and well enough, can shape the destiny of an entire Chapter.
